A collection of images from Language of the Listening Body, a two-week workshop led by choreographer Hope Mohr and acoustic ecologist and composer Michelle Nagai, with eight dancers and members of the general public. These images are from a soundwalk led by Nagai and Mohr through the neighborhood of Long Island City, in Queens NY, on September 23, 2006. Participants on the walk were encouraged to "perform listening" as they moved across and beneath a draw bridge, through industrial and residential landscapes and finally to a public park along the East River. At one point along the walk, participating members of the general public paired up with trained dancers to explore various combinations of listening and movement styles. A lively discussion with all involved took place at the end of the walk.
